Kishor Wasan invited to speak at prestigious CUGH Annual Meeting

The Neglected Global Diseases Initiative at UBC is pleased to inform it’s membership that Dr. Kishor Wasan has been selected to speak at the 4th Annual Meeting of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health taking place in Washington DC, March 14-16, 2013.  He has been asked to join the Innovative Approaches and Technologies for Global Health Plenary Panel and joins co-presenters Steve Davis, President, PATH and Sasha Kramer, Emerging Explorer, National Geographic Society.  The panel will be moderated by Alex Dehgan, Chief Scientific Advisor, USAID.

Dr. Wasan joins a prestigious group of speakers: Anthony Fauci, Director and Francis Collins, National Institutes of Health; Thomas Frieden, Centres for Disease Control; Eric Goosby, US Department of State; Richard Horton, Editor, The Lancet; Ashley Judd, Actor/Activist; Chris Murray, Director, Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation and the only other Canadian panel member, Peter Singer, CEO, Grand Challenges Canada.  The opening keynote address will be delivered by Julio Frenk, Dean of the Harvard School of Public Health.

This is an oppoCUGH_Final_2 19 2013rtunity for the NGDI-UBC to interact and potentially develop partnership opportunities with the international global health community.   This is the result of building bridges with our Distinguished Lectureship Seminar Speakers, in this instance the Honourable Dr. Keith Martin, former MP who is an Executive Advisor for the CUGH.
