Disaster Relief in Haiti

Originally published on January 14, 2010

Dear Colleagues,

If you would like to help children in Haiti during the recovery and rebuilding from the earthquake, please consider making a donation to the emergency fund set up by the Haitian Timoun Foundation (HTF). HTF supports partner organizations in Haiti, including orphanages, group homes, schools, a children’s hospital and a college scholarship program. Of the partner organizations, we have learned that St. Joseph’s Home for Boys was completely destroyed, the Wings of Hope Home was severely damaged, and the headquarters and dorm for the HELP scholarship program were destroyed. The director and one boy from St. Joe’s were injured and are being treated. College students from HELP that were housed in the dorm and the HELP staff are OK. But many of the students that live with families are not yet accounted for. You can see updates at www.htflive.com.

Donations to HTF will be used to directly help the Haitian children and students associated with the partner organizations. 100% of donations are used in Haiti, for the benefit of Haitian children. To make a secure, on-line donation, please go to www.hopeinhaiti.org.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about this opportunity to help children in Haiti.

Thank you,

Dr. Kishor Wasan
