NGDI Receives CIHR Funding for Workshop

The successful Planning Grant will support a project called: The Neglected Global Diseases Initiative at UBC: Research Collaboration for the Developing WorldThe amount of the grant is $22,500.

This meeting will be composed of a full day public symposium and a half-day invited workshop.  The symposium and workshop will educate stakeholders and donors about the tremendous potential UBC researchers have to make an impact on many areas of neglected diseases.  It will also provide time to identify research questions and priorities for specific regions of invited stakeholders and develop partnership potential with NGDI researchers.  Outcomes from the workshop include: a) continued partnership development in regions where neglected diseases are endemic, b) collaborative research questions that could form the basis of a CIHR application, c) publication of workshop proceedings to an open source journal and d) development of a website portal for interactive knowledge translation of the Model of Collaboration.
