NGDI hosts first meeting for partnership opportunities with WIPO Re:Search
On February 13th, 2014, the NGDI-UBC will host a UBC site meeting with representatives from Seattle-based BIO Ventures Global Health (BVGH). BVGH is in partnership with the UN’s World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to host WIPO Re:Search, an intellectual property partnership sharing database that focuses on neglected disease work. President of BVGH, Ms. Jennifer Dent will be accompanied by Associate Director, Partnering & Scientific Affairs, Dr. Roopa Ramamoorthi and Dr. Katy Graef, Manager, Special Projects.
WIPO Re:Search was formed in 2011 through the efforts of several of the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, the World Intellectual Property Organization, and BIO Ventures for Global Health.
Through WIPO Re:Search, public and private sector organizations make valuable intellectual property and other resources available to qualified neglected tropical disease researchers anywhere in the world. WIPO Re:Search Members are working to develop new products to prevent, diagnose and treat neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and tuberculosis.Members’ contributions are captured in a searchable, public database. These contributions include intellectual property and know-how for neglected tropical disease research including compounds, compound libraries, hits to lead series data, vaccine and diagnostic technologies, and other assets.
With these valuable resources, WIPO Re:Search aims to facilitate new partnerships between member organizations that will advance research on drugs, vaccines, and diagnostics for neglected tropical diseases, malaria and tuberculosis. BIO Ventures for Global Health plays a pivotal role in WIPO Re:Search as the Partnership Hub Administrator. BVGH actively identifies partnership opportunities between members and facilitates collaborations to accelerate the development of new products for neglected tropical diseases, malaria, and tuberculosis.
